The absorption of microwave radiation with a frequency of 2.45 GHz in
aqueous solutions was studied as function of the concentration of vari
ous strong electrolytes by measuring the temperature of solutions and
the pressure in the teflon vessel. The absorption shows a maximum at c
oncentrations of 10(-1)-10(-20 mol/l for hydrogen and alkali metal ion
s. The chemical type of cations or anions has only a small influence o
n the absorption of microwave radiation in the temperature range of 20
-180-degrees-C.
