PCBS AND CHLORINATED PESTICIDES IN RAINS OF NORTHERN ITALY

Single PCB congeners, DDT and its metabolites were determined in rain waters from different areas of Northern Italy in recent years. Differe nces were observed both in terms of PCB profiles and of PCB and DDT co ncentrations. Pollution levels were not abscribable to long distance t ransport alone. Both in the case of DDT compounds and in the case of P CB congeners local input into the environment can be supposed.
