Deactivation of zinc dicarboxydiamide phthalocyanine (ZnPc) by quinone
s was investigated in hexadecyltrimethylammonium chloride micelles by
fluorescence and triplet quenching experiments. Fluorescence data were
handled according to the method of Encinas and Lissi (Chem. Phys. Let
t., 91 (1982) 55) to derive quencher partition constants. The same dat
a were used to obtain singlet quenching constants. Triplet quenching a
nd quencher exit rate constants were obtained by steady state singlet
oxygen phosphorescence detection. The correlation of the quenching rat
e constants with the redox potentials indicates electron transfer quen
ching.
