Abstract
Type of thermal and mechanical stressing of converter waste-heat boile r tubes. Determination of wear curves, development of measures for the protection of tube walls in waste-heat boilers. Unsuccessful trials w ith studdings. Welding of webs and round bars on the tubes of the wast e-heat boiler in order to ensure the formation of a slag protective la yer and to reduce erosive wear by the flue gas. Reduction of wear thro ugh these measures in the inclined flue directly above the converter. Reduction of wear in the vertical section only through welded-on round bars. Conclusion: plasma coating of the tubes would be more appropria te.
