Abstract
The principle behind electron holography and its application to surfac e topography observation are briefly reviewed. A surface displacement field can be quantitatively observed in sub-angstrom units as contour fringes in an interference micrograph, using reflection electron holog raphy. Surface steps and dislocations are observed.
