K. Jost et al., GERONTOPSYCHOLOGICAL PILOT-STUDY OF SLEEP IN THE AGED - EXPERIENCE WITH THE NUREMBERG GERONTOPSYCHOLOGICAL INVENTORY NAI, Zeitschrift fur Gerontologie, 26(6), 1993, pp. 471-475
In an ongoing study of sleep in aged seniors the relationship between
physiological, pathophysiological changes of sleep parameters and cogn
itive function was studied. It will be argued that the Nuremberg geron
topsychological inventory is superior to commonly used psychometric te
st-batteries to assess cognitive function in the aged. Preliminary res
ults on the application of the Nuremberg gerontopsychological inventor
y will be presented, which were achieved in 10, non-demented, independ
ently living subjects aged 80 to 85 years. The relationship between su
bjective complaints on aging, everyday activities and psychometric ass
essed performance was analyzed in detail.
