Abstract
Despite intensive research neither suitable methods of measurement, no r complete theoretical statements give an adequate account of preferen tial flow due to the exceptional complexity and variability of the soi l system. In particular it is not possible to make predictions of pref erential flow for a given soil due to observations and measurements. I n this work we describe theoretical and technical problems of preferen tial flow and initiate ideas for future work in this field.
