J. Northup et al., PUBLICATION TRENDS IN 25 YEARS OF THE JOURNAL OF APPLIED BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS, Journal of applied behavior analysis, 26(4), 1993, pp. 527-537
All articles published in the first 2 5 years of JABA (1968 to 199 2)
were reviewed to classify the percentage of articles published in the
following categories: (a) type of article, (b) subjects, (c) setting,
(d) behavior-change agent, (e) target behavior, (f) use of basic princ
iples, and (g) miscellaneous procedures. Overall percentages and trend
s are reported in each category. Results indicate an increase in the p
ercentage of articles with participants and target behaviors in develo
pmental disabilities and a decrease in the percentage of studies targe
ting academic behavior, verbal behavior, and other child behavioral ex
cesses. The most frequent setting continues to be a school; however th
ere is a dear trend towards community and other naturalistic settings.
Results also highlight the increasing complexity and multicomponent n
ature of JABA interventions. Potential implications for future applica
tions are discussed.
