Abstract
The role of process studies and scale-up in industrial R & D is descri bed here with a large number of examples. A systematic study is essent ial for adaptation/absorption of technology generated in-house or obta ined from outside. Process studies encompasses physical organic chemis try and chemical engineering principles, and bridges the gap between c hemical synthesis and pilot plant scale.
