Tk. Maiti et Sp. Chatterjee, L-PHENYLALANINE PRODUCTION BY DOUBLE-AUXOTROPHIC MUTANTS OF ARTHROBACTER-GLOBIFORMIS, Research and Industry, 38(4), 1993, pp. 234-237
A number of tryptophan plus tyrosine double auxotrophic mutants isolat
ed by NTG treatment of a glutamic acid producing strain of Arthrobacte
r globiformis were found to excrete phenylalanine in mineral salt medi
um. For the three potent mutants (TT-37, TT-39 and TT-55) tested the m
edium of Alfoldi, glucose 350 mM, NH4Cl 60 mM and biotin 5 mug/l were
the best for phenylalanine production. On the optimum levels strain TT
-39 yielded 2.6 g phenylalanine per liter of medium in flask culture.
