Th. Crook et al., RECALLING NAMES AFTER INTRODUCTION - CHANGES ACROSS THE ADULT LIFE-SPAN IN 2 CULTURES, Developmental neuropsychology, 9(2), 1993, pp. 103-113
We tested a completely randomized, cross-sectional sample of the popul
ation of the Republic of San Marino in order to examine the effects of
age on the ability to recall names of persons to whom one is introduc
ed. Findings were compared with diose from a large sample of persons t
ested with the same methods in the U.S. Results suggest that comparabl
e, highly significant declines in performance occur with advancing age
in both cultures. Discussion focuses on the social and clinical signi
ficance of the cross-cultural finding.
