Xt. Zhang et al., ANALYSIS ON CONTROL OF FLOW-INDUCED VIBRATION BY TUNED LIQUID DAMPER WITH CROSSED TUBE-LIKE CONTAINERS, Journal of wind engineering and industrial aerodynamics, 50(1-3), 1993, pp. 351-360
Probabilistic characteristics of response of a multi-storey structure
with tuned liquid dampers (TLD) installed in one or some of the floors
due to random dynamic loads are investigated. The tuned liquid damper
consists of crossed tube-like containers of nonlinear characteristics
of energy dissipation. A new version of stochastic linearization appr
oach is applied to solve the nonlinear vibration of the structure and
the liquid in the containers. Specifically, the nonlinear vibration sy
stem is replaced by an equivalent system in terms of the criterion of
minimal mean square deviation of generalized energies between these tw
o systems. Examples given show that the modified stochastic linearizat
ion approach is closer to the exact solution than the conventional one
. Finally, the effects of the tuned liquid damper on the structural re
sponse are identified.
