Tw. Fossum et al., CHYLOTHORAX ASSOCIATED WITH RIGHT-SIDED HEART-FAILURE IN 5 CATS, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 204(1), 1994, pp. 84-89
Cardiac diseases, particularly those cause right-sided heart failure,
should considered as a cause of chylothorax in cats. Jugular vein dist
ention and results of echocardiography may be important in the diagnos
is of right-sided heart failure in cats with chylothorax. Treatment ob
jectives should include controlling the underlying cardiac disease and
decreasing systemic venous pressures.
