Two questionnaires were addressed to 892 alcohologist physicians (45 %
responded). The first questionnaires' goal was to understand the unde
rlying motivations to Alcohology practice ; the seconds' goal was to s
pecify the eventual alcohologists' interest to the tobacco problem. Re
sults analysis showed common features (interest in physician-patients'
relation, recognition of the tobacco problems' importance, desire in
education to solving tobacco problems) and heterogeneities, being most
ly the fact of two particular groups, psychiatrists and smokers. It wo
uld seem logical, considering our results, to offer alcohologists toba
cco problems education and to promote mixed alcohol and tobacco center
s creation.
