We have investigated the polaron bound to a fixed hydrogenic impurity
placed on the axis of the quantum wire. The ground impurity binding en
ergy and the effective potential due to the interaction between electr
on and the confined LO-phonons and the effective mass are calculated b
y means of Lee-Low-Pines variational treatment. It is shown that the e
ffective potential induced by the interaction of the electron with the
confined LO-phonons is very small at the boundary of the quantum wire
, while the potential rises to the maximum value on the axis of the qu
antum wire.
