H. Pasch et al., ANALYSIS OF EPOXY-RESINS BY MATRIX-ASSISTED LASER DESORPTION IONIZATION MASS-SPECTROMETRY/, Die Angewandte makromolekulare Chemie, 212, 1993, pp. 191-200
Bisphenol A-based epoxy resins were analysed by matrix-assisted laser
desorption/ionization mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS). The samples were s
eparated into their oligomers according to the degree of polymerizatio
n and the type of functional groups. Nine different functional species
were found to be present in bisphenol A-epichlorohydrin resins. In th
e case of resol epoxy resins, in addition to the oligomer distribution
, the distribution of the methylol groups was determined. The quantita
tive treatment of the spectra and the determination of the average fun
ctionality and the molar mass of the samples is discussed.
