Lipid fractions (total lipids and phospholipids, triglycerides, free f
atty acids, cholesterol, lysophospholipids, sphingomyelins, phosphatid
ylserins, phosphatidylcholines, phosphatidylethanolamines, cardiolipin
s, phosphatidic acids) were assessed in stromal red cells of 41 patien
ts with iron deficiency anemia (IDA), The values obtained were correla
ted with wave T height at rest ECG. It was found that IDA patients hav
e abnormalities in the lipid spectrum of red cell stroma promoting myo
cardiodystrophy. Therapeutic measures to normalize relevant lipid spec
trum may become one of the factors preventing further dystrophic devel
opments in the myocardium.
