Bv. Lebedev et al., THERMODYNAMICS OF ISOTACTIC POLYBUTENE-1 AND OF THE PROCESSES OF ITS FORMATION FROM BUTENE-1, CIS-BUTENE-2 AND TRANS-BUTENE-2, AND ETHYLENEIN THE 0-K-600-K RANGE, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 35(12), 1993, pp. 10001941-10001950
Specific heat C-p(0) of isotactic polybutene-1 in the 6 - 500 K range
was studied calorimetrically. Temperatures and enthalpies of melting f
or different crystalline forms of polybutene-1 were determined with gl
ass transition parameters. Thermodynamic functions H-0(T) - H-0(0), S0
(T), and G0(T) - H-(0) were calculated in the range 0 - 600 K. Zero S0
(0) and configurational S-con(0) entropies of polybutene-1 in glassy s
tate, as well as the differences between zero enthalpies in glassy and
crystalline states H-g(0)(0) - H-c(0)(0) were estimated. Using these
results and data for butene-1, cis- and trans-butene-2, and ethylene w
e calculated thermodynamic functions for the following processes: poly
merization of butene-1, monomer-isomerization polymerization of cis- a
nd tran-butene-2 to poly(butene-1), polymerization of ethylene to poly
(butene-1), isomerization of cis- and trans-butene-2 to butene-1, and
for dimerization of ethylene to butene-1, in the same range of tempera
tures at normal pressure.
