Abstract
The mixed ligand complexes K[Ru-III(EDTA)(bipy)] (1) and K[Ru-III(EDTA )(o-Phen)] (2) (EDTA, ethylenediaminetetraacetate; bipy, bipyridine; o -Phen, o-phenanthroline) were synthesized and characterized by physico chemical methods. Their redox and photophysical properties were studie d. The kinetic and equilibrium data for the formation of these mixed l igand complexes are reported. Surface modification of a TiO2 semicondu ctor was carried out by the adsorption of complexes 1 and 2 onto the s urface of TiO2 particles; the photoreduction of CO2 was achieved at an energy lower than the band gap energy of TiO2.
