Be. Shen et al., PREPARATION AND ELECTROCHEMICAL CHARACTER ISTIC OF MONTMORILLONITE CHEMICAL MODIFIED ELECTRODES, Huaxue xuebao, 51(11), 1993, pp. 1070-1076
Montmorillonite chemical modified electrodes (CME) were prepared with
certain cationic and anionic species absorbed in the montmorillonite f
ilm by both pre-exchange and incorperation methods. The cationic and a
nionic species absorbed exhibit different voltammetric response when t
he CME immersed in solutions containing only supporting electrolyte. I
f is found that only a small fraction of the absorbed species ia elect
rochemically active. X-ray diffraction and spectrophotsmetry reveals t
hat cationic species can intercalate into the interlamellar spaces to
form a clay-organic complex. The electroactivity of the absorbed speci
es was discussed based on the different absorbed sites available in mo
ntmorillonite.
