Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are estimated to be exc
essively prescribed. We have prospectively collected all drug prescrip
tions written by 50 doctors in an Outpatient Service, during a 5-day p
eriod. The purpose of this study was to draw the outline of NSAID pres
criptors. Junior doctors (66%) wrote more controversial NSAID prescrip
tions (66%) than other doctors.
