Twelve female patients treated by progestogens with or without estroge
ns presented with prolonged (1 to 48 months) elevation of body tempera
ture above 37 degrees C but below 38 degrees C. They had usually conti
nued taking their temperature after and initial transitory febrile epi
sode. Most had had multiple diagnostic tests which remained negative.
Temperature became normal after cessation of hormonal treatment.
