P. Caron et al., HYPERTHYROIDISM DUE TO INAPPROPRIATE SECR ETION OF TSH - REPORT ON 2 NEW CASES, La Revue de medecine interne, 14(10), 1993, pp. 990-990
Hyperthyroidism due to inappropriate secretion of TSH is rare. It may
be due to either TSH-secreting pituitary adenomas (n = 15) or selectiv
e pituitary resistance to thyroid hormone action (n = 31). The recogni
tion of these patients is of great clinical importance since they shou
ld be treated differently than patients with more common forms of hype
rthyroidism (Graves' disease, autonomous thyroid nodule).
