Abstract
The epidemiology of arterial hypertension was studied from 1988 to 199 1 in a region in the west of France comprising 500,000 inhabitants. Pr evalence of arterial hypertension was calculated to 16.2%, significant ly higher in men than in women (22.5% vs 11.2%).
