International opinion survey for bioethics and medical genetics was do
ne in India, Thailand and Japan among the general public. Differences
in bioethical decision were investigated with differences in religion,
economics and culture. There existed some barriers, which made precis
e comparison difficult. However, their ethical and emotional conclusio
n was common to the countries, while dependence on their society was d
ifferent. Further study in detail is necessary to clarify what is vari
ety and unity among them. We should emphasize how much public educatio
n contributes to understanding the mechanisms of heredity and to discl
osing prejudices on advancing technology in medical genetics.
