Abstract
Two new pentacyclic sesterterpenes, 12-O-desacetylfuroscalarol (1) and 12-O-desacetylscalarin (2), which enhance nerve growth factor synthes is, have been isolated from the Okinawan marine sponge Hyrtios sp. and their structures elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.
