J. Colin et al., ADHESION INCREASE BY INTERFACE MIXING, Philosophical magazine. A. Physics of condensed matter. Structure, defects and mechanical properties, 75(2), 1997, pp. 369-377
Stress modifications are calculated at a free surface-interface inters
ection of a strained layer in a matrix when the interface is broadened
by thermal diffusion or by ion mixing. The results show that this bro
adening induces a stress relaxation that delays the growth of interfac
e cracks and increases the adhesion.
