J. Swerts et al., AGE-DETERMINATION OF CHINESE PORCELAIN BY X-RAY-FLUORESCENCE AND MULTIVARIATE-ANALYSIS, Chemometrics and intelligent laboratory systems, 22(1), 1994, pp. 97-105
In this paper, we report on the use of principal component analysis an
d partial least-squares regression (PLSR) for the age determination of
Chinese porcelain of the period 1700-1990. Energy-dispersive X-ray fl
uorescence (EDXRF), a non-destructive technique, was used to retrieve
elemental information of the objects. Fifteen elements were measured o
n 17 pieces of Chinese porcelain. The regression coefficients of the f
inal PLS model are related to elemental concentrations and their magni
tudes are consistent with observations reported in the literature base
d on univariate analysis.
