Fifteen licensed psychologists were asked to recall verbatim dialogue
from 3 segments of an actual therapy session (first 5 min, most signif
icant event, and last 5 min). Transcripts of the dialogue were coded f
or main and supporting ideas and compared with the recollected dialogu
e to measure the accuracy of the therapists' recall. The procedure tha
t was developed to quantify the number of ideas present in the transcr
ipts and the results of the recall analysis are described.
