CHANGES IN RESEARCH PRODUCTIVITY IN COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY - REVISITING HOWARD (1983) A DECADE LATER

Institutional research productivity in counseling psychology was asses sed by totaling credits for articles published for the years 1983 thro ugh 1992 in the following counseling-related journals: Journal of Coun seling Psychology, The Counseling Psychologist, Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, and Journal o f Counseling and Development. A number of programs made substantial ju mps into the institutions ranked in the top 40, High intercorrelations among the 5 journals suggest the presence of an underlying research p roductivity factor, and program quality is discussed in the light of t hese results.
