Abstract
An aqueous geochemical model has been adapted and developed for use wi th oilfield formation brines under field conditions in the North Sea. It has been used to identify trends in downhole pH, the potential for carbonate and sulphate scale formation, and ionic strength right acros s the North Sea region. Although more data are required, the first ste ps towards correlating these findings with the geology of the North Se a have been taken.
