The R(2)In compounds (R = rare earth) form an isostructural series whi
ch presents a great variety of magnetic behaviors depending on the nat
ure of the rare earth. In this paper we present a study of Er-2. In by
means of magnetic and transport measurements, Mossbauer spectroscopy
and neutron diffraction. Our results reveal that this compound orders
ferromagnetically below T-C = 40 K: the saturated moments at both the
Er3+ sites are 8.0 mu(B) and they lie close to the basal plane.
