A catalytic biphasic aqueous/organic system for hydrogen peroxide oxid
ations was studied and improved, and a new metalloporphyrin derived fr
om meso-tetrakis-2,6-dichlorophenylporphyrin bearing five sulphonamide
side chains in the mesophenyls and in one of the beta-positions was s
ynthesised and established as an highly efficient and stable catalyst
working in the newly developed system. An interface mechanism is propo
sed to interpret the role of lipophilic acids as co-catalysts, the eff
iciency of the catalysis and the stability of the catalyst in the new
system.
