T. Pineda et al., A SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC STUDY OF PYRAZINE AND ITS 2-HYDROXY-3-PHENYL DERIVATIVES - CHARACTERIZATION OF ABSORPTION-SPECTRA BY LOGNORMAL CURVES, Gazzetta chimica italiana, 123(11), 1993, pp. 623-627
Absorption spectra of pyrazine and its derivatives, 2-hydroxy-6-methyl
-3-phenylpyrazine (HMPP) and 2-hydroxy-3(p-hydroxyphenyl)-6-methylpyra
zine (HHMP) have been studied in a wide pH interval. Sulphuric acid so
lutions in strong acid media and buffered solutions for the rest of th
e pH interval were employed. The variation of the absorbance and maxim
um wavelength with the pH provided an estimate of the acid-base consta
nts of these compounds. An application of the lognormal curves for the
description of the absorption spectra of pyrazine and its derivatives
is described. Also a comparison of the fitting parameters of these de
rivatives is presented.
