J. Abbasian et al., ADVANCED HIGH-PRESSURE BENCH-SCALE REACTOR FOR TESTING WITH HOT CORROSIVE-GASES, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 33(1), 1994, pp. 91-95
A bench-scale, high-pressure/high-temperature fluidized-bed reactor (H
PTR) system is described that is capable of operating at a maximum tem
perature and pressure of 1000-degrees-C and 30 bar in a corrosive atmo
sphere. The design of the unit is based on a double-shell balanced-pre
ssure system. All the hot parts of the reactor that are wetted by the
corrosive (and/or reactive) gases and the entire sampling line are con
structed of inert material to prevent corrosion and loss of the reacta
nt gases. The unit has been used for over 200 high-pressure hot coal g
as desulfurization tests at 20 bars and up to 750-degrees-C without an
y experimental problem and with excellent sulfur balance, indicating t
hat this reactor system is ideal for testing with reactive and corrosi
ve gases at elevated pressures and temperature&
