S. Banerjee et al., PHOSPHORUS-CONTAINING POLYMERS .3. POLYIMIDOPHOSPHONATES, Journal of polymer science. Part A, Polymer chemistry, 32(2), 1994, pp. 219-227
Synthesis of dihydroxybisimide monomers and their subsequent polyconde
nsation with dichlorophenylphosphine oxide by use of a phase-transfer
catalyst are reported. The monomers were characterized by melting poin
t, elemental analysis, and IR spectroscopy. The polyimidophosphonates
were characterized by viscosity measurement, molecular weight determin
ation, elemental analysis, IR, ESCA, H-1-NMR, P-31-NMR, and X-ray diff
raction. Thermal stability and glass transition temperature (T,) of th
e polymers were evaluated by TGA, DTA, and TMA. These polymers are sel
f-extinguishing and readily soluble in highly polar solvents like DMF,
DMSO, DMAC, NMP, HMPA, etc. (C) 1994 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
