Abstract
According to the Recommendations of the 20th Session if ICUMSA. Subjec t 17 ''Dry Substance'', two collaborative tests have been carried out. One test concerned the determination of moisture content of raw sugar having a moisture content of less than 0.5%, using the method for det ermining loss on drying of white sugars. The second test concerned the determination of dry substance in cane and beet molasses by the ''vac cum oven drying on sand method''. Both of these ring tests were made f ollowing the recommended IUPAC and AOAC procedures which were adopted by ICUMSA in 1990. Statistical analysis of data of both tests showed t hat the two methods should be acceptable as Official ICUMSA methods.
