Abstract
A model of the competition between complete fusion and quasi-fission c hannels in fusion of two massive nuclei is proposed. The calculation o f the evaporation residue cross sections in the reactions Mo-100 + Mo- 100 and Pd-110 + Pd-110 within this model gives a good agreement with the experimental data. The fusion barrier of a new type in the complet e fusion of two massive nuclei is revealed.
