Abstract
A Green's function is used to formulate the torsion of axisymmetric bo dies with internal or external cracks. Mode III stress intensity facto rs K3 are obtained for a circular cylinder containing both internal an d external circular cracks. While K3 for the internal crack tends to i ncrease with increasing crack size, the opposite is found for the exte rnal crack. Numerical results are displayed graphically.
