Abstract
The detailed division into regions of the rodent fauna has been elabor ated for Egypt and Sudan using the claster analysis of Jaccard coeffic ients of 36 relatively homogeneous parts. According to these estimates the south borderline of Sahara probably is a boundary between the Pal aearctic and Afrotropical kingdoms. The Coastal Northern African subre gion was determined within the Sahara-Gobian region. The Nile is assum ed to be a barrier for the distribution of one third of all rodents (n ine species) inhabiting the Nile offshore territories.
