Abstract
Field tests are described which show that steady-state motor performan ce data can be used to simulate dynamic conditions in rod-pumped wells , It is shown that manufacturer-supplied data and motor speed measurem ents can be used to evaluate electrical quantities without use of elec trical measuring equipment, Further, it is shown that electrical predi ctions can be usefully incorporated into mechanical models of the rod pumping system, It is hoped that the ideas presented will help extend the economic life of hundreds of thousands of rod-pumped wells.
