Mo. Ortells et al., CEDIT - A C-INTERFACE AND MACRO FACILITY FOR PROTEIN-SEQUENCE ALIGNMENT EDITING IN COLOR WITH MICROSOFT-WORD-5.0 FOR PCS, Computer applications in the biosciences, 9(6), 1993, pp. 741-744
CEDIT, a C interface and macro facility that provides for the colour e
diting of protein sequence alignments (up to 2000 sequences, 5000 resi
dues each) using Microsoft Ward 5.0 for PCs is presented. CEDIT uses t
he ability of MS-Word 5.0 to display letters with the desired colour t
o easily identify conservative homologies across the sequences. A glos
sary file with useful macros for the sequence editing is provided, alo
ng with several utilities programs for error checking, estimating sequ
ence similarities and homology significance. CEDIT has a menu interfac
e and a context sensitive help.
