Abstract
A technique developed for tapered transmission lines is presented for the design of optical filters. Optical filters with graded index profi les are analyzed by solution of the nonlinear Riccati equation. Numeri cal results show that the method provides accurate solutions and compu tes the frequency response of the filters faster than the matrix metho d. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
