Vl. Ermolaev et Eb. Sveshnikova, MECHANISM OF NONRADIATIVE-TRANSITIONS BETWEEN ELECTRONIC LEVELS IN METAL-ION COMPLEXES, Soviet journal of optical technology, 60(11), 1993, pp. 792-795
This paper gives a brief review of the efforts in recent years devoted
to determining the applicability limits of the inductive-resonance th
eory proposed by the authors in 1971 for nonradiative transitions betw
een electronic levels in metal-ion complexes. It is shown that, in con
trast to the opinion set forth by other authors in the literature, our
theory is applicable not only to the case of weak vibronic coupling a
nd multiphonon deactivation in high-frequency vibrations but also to n
onradiative transitions in transition-metal ions (strong and medium vi
bronic coupling), to a change in low-frequency vibrations, and also to
a change into one vibrational phonon.
