H. Nattermann et al., EXPERIMENTAL REPRODUCTION OF FOOT ROT IN MERINO MUTTON SHEEP, USING BACTEROIDES-NODOSUS ISOLATES FROM MOUFFLON (OVIS-AMMON-MUSIMON), Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin, 48(11-12), 1993, pp. 651-655
The clinical pattern of foot rot was experimentally reproduced in dome
stic sheep, using Bacteroides (B.) nodosus isolates from moufflon. Mal
ignant foot rot could be induced only by means of mixed cultures of B.
nodosus and Fusobacterium (F.) necrophorum or B. nodosus with B. levi
i. These were the most common anaerobic germs reisolated. Aetiology an
d pathogenesis of this important infectious disease in moufflon and do
mestic sheep are discussed in some detail.
