Abstract
p-Nitrophenol was mineralized more rapidly in the rice rhizosphere tha n in unplanted soil under non-flooded and flooded conditions. The effe ct of the rhizosphere on the mineralization of p-nitrophenol was more pronounced under flooded conditions and was influenced by the pre-expo sure of the rice rhizosphere to p-nitrophenol. The rice rhizosphere pr etreated with p-nitrophenol generated more (CO2)-C-14 from C-14-p-nitr ophenol than that without pretreatment.
