Epitaxial garnet films grown on a GGG substrate with an orientation (2
10) have orthorhombic anisotropy and are considered as a uniaxial magn
etics with an easy axis tilted from a direction perpendicular to the f
ilm surface at an angle THETA(o) almost-equal-to 30-degrees. Such film
s have an oriented stripe domain structure. Their magnetization is car
ried out by a displacement of 180-degrees domain walls under the influ
ence of both bias and inplane magnetic fields. A magnetic susceptibili
ty tensor is proposed determined by the effective demagnetizing factor
and the angle THETA(o). The critical dependences of the nucleation fi
eld and of the collapse field have been obtained. The magnetizing curv
es obtained in a bias or in an in-plane field are shifted by applying
an additional orthogonal dc-field. Simple techniques of the determinat
ion of the easy axis orientation and of the saturation magnetization v
alue are presented.
