Abstract
High-remanence, isotropic magnetic powder of a low rare earth content been developed for resin-bonded magnet applications. The materials are based on metastable Fe(Fe,Co)3B-Nd2Fe14B nanocrystalline mixture with addition of a small amount of one of Al, Si, Cu, Ga, Ag, and Au. Effe cts of the additives on the microstructure is investigated by means of transmission electron microscopy It is found that the additives consi derably reduce grain sizes, which results in improvements in the hyste resis squareness or the material. Magnetic properties of a bonded magn et produced from Nd4.5Fe73Co3Ga1B18.5 are described in detail.
