Abstract
The new phenomenon called the quasimagnetoelastic aftereffect has been described in this paper. it was found that in Sm(Fe1-xCox)2Hn (n appr oximately 0.1) compounds the fast change in orientation of the magneti zation initiated a slow change in the sample size. The deformation of the sample can achieve the value of 10(-3). The induced magnetic aniso tropy and the magnetic annealing effect also were observed in these co mpounds. The obtained results have been explained using the model of t he orientational ordering of hydrogen atoms, which is caused by the ma gnetostrictive deformation of the crystal lattice.
