Abstract
Numerical studies on the linear induction motor with a short stator ar e carried out to evaluate its feasible maximum payload ratio, consider ing its application for an actuator with vertical movement. The depend ency of the ratio on a set of machine parameters is obtained. The payl oad ratio higher than 3 is shown to be realizable.
